I just read the BEST trashy noir, from 1949, with Chicago locations that you could do a walking tour to -- it begins, for instance, at Bughouse Square, across from the Newberry Library, and name checks both. And it's full of that snappy repartee that makes noirs so much fun. Also, twisted sexual obsession, yeah. Good times. It's by Fredric Brown and is called The Screaming Mimi. Apparently it was made into two separate bad movies, one of which features Anita Ekberg as a stripper.
