Day 248: who do I text most?

Teen, yes, this question. However, it is at least something I can answer. Oddly, I think it is possible that who I text most is still M. It's not that we do it so often, but that when we start, we don't stop for hours. After him? Probably J., followed by [profile] john_b_cannon, followed by [profile] amarama.

I am awake and showered and dressed and about to eat breakfast and have tea (the combination of which things is almost unheard of, this summer) at 8:30, because I am picking up [profile] amarama at about 9:20 or so to go look at an apartment. I am looking at the apartment, not her. I have lived in my present apartment for almost fourteen years, but this one I am looking at, which I saw happenstantially or serendipitously on Craigslist is... it's nice enough that despite the very, very big jump in rent ($390/mo more) I am willing to consider it. It has parking. It has a washer and dryer and dishwasher. It has a really nice kitchen. It is a Craftsman duplex, with hardwood floors and high ceilings and ... well, a non-functional fireplace. I haven't seen the bathroom and bedroom yet; they weren't pictured. But it's hard to imagine they would suck given what IS pictured.

And yet I am really nervous. The landlord seems very picky and says there is a ton of interest. He wants recommendations as well as credit scores (mine are okay; I checked -- 771, 773, 751). And it is a giant thing, thinking of moving. When I moved out here, I came with literally my cat in a borrowed carrier that fit under the seat in front of me on the plane (that was Rilke), two huge duffel bags, and a backpack with my teapot in it, carefully swaddled. Some boxes of books were shipped to me. Everything else I have either inherited from my sister's friend whose apartment this was before it was mine - she essentially left it furnished - or have accumulated since. I've accumulated a lot, since. And it's just a nerve wracking prospect anyway. And the deposit! The deposit is $2350! There goes my savings. Again. I mean, not quite. But still.

Okay, I need to get the breakfast and tea part out of the way. Kitten update later.

Updated to add: there were enough flaws in that apartment, after all, to make it not worth $400 extra per month. But I can keep looking -- and thanks for the encouragement. In other news, the kitten has progressed from terrified to skittish. Now she IS exploring and behaving in ways more kittenlike. But that makes her harder to catch. Sometimes she can be cajoled, though.
