Day 258: Five Bad Things About My Life

Er.... who wants to focus on this? Ugh.

1. Diabetes, frankly, isn't any fun

2. joint pain

3. terrible kitchen

4. horrid parking situation -- only street parking, half of which is metered, and all of which is subject to CONSTANT move-because-of-street-cleaning rules.

5. Maya is not being accepting of Devlin, and in fact charged at her hissing (though when I made noise, Maya retreated). But yeah, that's not cool.

Cats can take a while, but I bet they'll come around.

Man, I hope so. I mean, I have to supervise while the door to my bedroom is open, so maybe I will try that again this evening. You know, I say this in your comments from time to time, but I just want to reiterate: I love reading your LJ. If you migrate somewhere else, I hope it is easy to get to... LJ's automaticity, as far as reading entries of friends, is very hard for me to duplicate elsewhere. Really, though, I just want to say how much I like reading you, on virtually any subject.

Cats generally do come around eventually, even if it is more a case of sleeping at opposite ends of the bed with no hissing rather than cuddles and romping.

Yeah, that was the way of it with Maya and Rilke -- Rilke never liked Maya once Maya was thrust upon her as a kitten, and then Maya turned out to be the top cat, which was kind of sad. Rilke doughtily defended her tiny bits of space -- the top of my desk, the bathroom -- and was not on top anywhere else. God knows what will happen with this little orange scrap. She plays by herself now, and wants to play with me (though I have to force myself to remember I cannot use my hand as a toy) and various bits of feathered string, but she hasn't advanced beyond the doorway of my bedroom since Maya's hissing foray, a few days ago.

As she gets bigger her curiousity and desire to expand her territory will probably overcome her fear, at least enough to look around when Maya isn't in the doorway.
