Yeah, these are so entirely relevant to me.
Day 298: Do I dress up or down for school. I dress down, in adult terms. I mean, I don't wear rags, or ripped jeans. But I don't wear put-together "outfits" either. I wear stuff that is comfortable and looks okay. I tend to wear a faux army jacket or black hoodie over my shirt, or a cardigan, for purposes of staying warm.
Day 299: My school doesn't have lockers for the kids. My nearest teacher neighbors are both to one side of me, because we're in some annex that was built later than the school, though in the same one-story 1940s/1950s California plan, with open air hallways. My neighbors are both good teachers; a sixth grade teacher of Language Arts and Social Studies, and the Art Teacher, who is something of a progressive.
This meme is running out of steam, no? It has two more months to go, just about.
Today during 2nd period English, it was their second Journal entry (Wednesdays are short days; kids have 32 minute periods and get out at 12:25 -- we have meetings) and they wrote about the notion of best friends or lots of casual friends versus a few very close friends. They wrote while I played Paul Piche's 70s Quebec folk album A Qui Appartient le Beau Temps?. They are so far very flexible with the music I force them to listen to.
