Here she is, queen of all she surveys, aka taking a bath on my bed:



And here, terrified by being in a NEW, BIG, unknown scary ROOM (otherwise known as my living room, where I transported her and set her down on my couch.) Everything smells like that other cat. Aghh!



But a few minutes later... well, maybe she can tolerate that other cat's scent. It's not so bad, as long as there are NO SUDDEN MOVEMENTS or NOISES. What, you want me to look at you now? Fine.

Aw!

Orange tabbies are so fun. They have great personalities. Zeus, for example, has been kind of a maniac all his life. Never quite settled into a Goofy/Stately Phase, the way Charlie did.

I have always, always wanted an orange tabby. I didn't know I could get one in female, and sandy like a little lion. She's not a maniac, yet anyway. Except at 3 to 5 AM.

Putting her in the room that smells like other cat is a good idea. Can you put anything that she has been sleeping on into Maya's space?

I've tried that putting her in a room that smells like Maya (which would be any room in the rest of the house). The only one that is easy to close, though, is the bathroom, and I did that for a bit, while I was in there with her, and even with me there she was crying and unhappy. She sleeps on my bed, and the bed clothes would be unwieldy. Right now I am trying to play with both of them at once (with a flying toy) at least one time each day. Maya still makes sorties when I have the door open, and the kitten races for her safe space, which is my bed. There hasn't been any more hissing, but Devlin is clearly terrified of her. Or maybe , scared but curious? Something like that.
