Day 284 and 285

maeve66Oh, it's hard to do this and work for a living, too.
Day 284: Differences between me and my best friend. Don't believe in "best friend" notion, but let's say, back when I might have acknowledged having such -- say, my college roommate, R. We were the kind of friends who have as many complementary traits as matching ones. We were both smart and loved writing and languages -- she was fluent in Portuguese and was learning Spanish; I was fluent in French and was learning Spanish -- she was a poet, and I thought a very talented one. But she was intense and focused and disciplined, where I was more laid-back (though passionate about politics) and all-over-the-place and lazy. She could be a pessimist, while I was an optimist. She had a hard time loosening up unless she drank or smoked pot -- and then she quit both of those undisciplined "crutches", as she thought of them, and became very serious indeed.
Day 285: What got me into this challenge? Someone on my FL on LiveJournal... now I am not sure whom. Springheel Jack? A Terri Beth?
