Day 322: My Childhood Football Stars

I don't think I had a childhood favorite football star. I had one in my 30s -- Brett Favre, without a doubt. He just seemed to fucking ENJOY playing so much, and was so gifted athletically. It was always a pleasure to watch him play. I had a childhood favorite baseball player, though. Three. First, from a little, little girl, I loved Hank "The Hammer" Aaron. I got to see him playing for Milwaukee plenty of times. Second, I loved Robin Yount, because we'd seen him playing minor league ball in New York, or somewhere out East anyway, and then he was scooped up by the majors. My dad always used to make predictions about what players we watched would go up and join the Big Leagues. Yount was his best call, for sure. And then, of the Cubs of my youth, I liked Dave "The Kong" Kingman. Yeah, I wasn't too discriminating about the finer points of baseball; I liked the sluggers.
