I love Xmas lights. I love them so much that I leave them on 24/7/365, or as many of the 365 as they last until burning out. Then I put up more. It is a sad, sad day for me when I run out of Xmas lights during the offseason and can find nowhere to renew my supply. Last night I put them up again, FINALLY. Here they are. Those of you who've never been in my living space can get some idea of one part of it. It's dark because I don't appreciate the flash, which washes out the Xmas lights.

No one loves my picture posts! But this is an opportunity to use my new icon, which celebrates the excellence of Real Ale. Actually, I don't care if it's CAMRA approved (or whatever that group is); I just like a pint, in a pub. Or several.

I keep switching icons out to add ones I like more. I need one of Alexandra Kollontai... what am I going to jettison for her? I don't know. I want to spend $10 on the ability to have one HUNDRED icons...

I'm VERY happy to see your photos. It means that you can post your art. Now post your art now.

Now now now. Now.

All I could post at this point would be doodling. Though I'm tempted to take pictures of doodles and post them.

Doodling is art! Especially if it's the only art we're doing.

Thank you both. When it's clean, it IS cozy. Living by myself, though, I often get lazy (which I wouldn't, with a roommate... however, at this late stage, I don't think I want any more roommates, whatever the benefits) and let housework slide. Which is an unpleasant self-replicating cycle. But the apartment is clean and nice right now, from my horrible tiny little kitchen to my ridiculous miniscule bathroom where you have to sit sideways on the toilet.

Like Green Fairy dishwashing liquid, or whatever they call it. No, I know, "fairy lights", strings of mini Xmas lights.

I'm glad there's a coterie of folk who like them. I feel vindicated.

For some reason, they call it "ale" when they're talking about "Real Ale", and bitter when you're getting a pint of it. Mmmm. Yes, yummy yummy bitter.

My cat Rilke. Who is quite, quite evil, though I love her very much anyway. If you look closely in the picture where she's front and center, you can see my other cat, Maya, under the rocking chair. She's not evil at all, and in consequence, not nearly as interesting to me.

I love your lights M66. When did you get into this then? I don't remember it from Chicago or Brighton. Do you like other strings of lights or do they have to be xmas ones. We have a string of purple chilis that sophie gave us.

Columbia, Missouri. And maybe the shapes aren't the most important part, but the multi-colored thing is key. One of the things I like best about them is coming home, now that it's dark so early, and seeing my living room window lit up, through those bushes of jade plants along the side of the apartment building -- I can only see a glint of different colors at different moments as I come up the stairs from the street, but it feels welcoming and yeah, cozy.
